The island beckons to those in search of truly being “down island”, where the island’s most popular watering hole is adjacent to the sand-sealed landing strip. Little Cayman is known as a great dive destinations, but also features top of class offshore and flats fishing allowing you multiple activities at one desintation. so tailor your expedition as you like, GHO Fish, GHO Dive, or just GHO Chill!
GHO DIVE
Little Cayman is famous for scuba diving, consistently ranked among the world best, especially for wall diving. The 3000 ft. contour line around the island is a mere mile offshore! Little Cayman’s Blood Bay Wall Marine Park is particularly famous with expert divers because of its many sections are so severe drops as to be essentially vertical drops. For less adventuresome divers and snorkelers, Little Cayman offers over fifty unique dive sites of all skill level and is considered the Holy Grail of Scuba.
GHO FISH OFFSHORE
For the angler Little Cayman offers abundant offshore opportunities with year round catches of Blackfin, Skipjack and Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, deep water Snapper and seasonal thrills of Marlin and Mahi Mahi, the tremendous benefit of visiting an island that is the pinnacle of an underwater mountain right next to the Cayman Trench is its thrilling catches as close as a quarter mile from shore. When you go deep sea fishing, you spend the day actually fishing, not just running out and back to the fishing grounds. You have to be quick though, there are sharks out there wanting to bite your prize catch off the line!
GHO FISH THE FLATS
Before Southern Cross Club pioneered diving on the island it was known as a pristine flats fishing destination. Fishing enthusiasts come from around the globe to stalk our Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon. However, the flats fishing is not just about the Big Three; there are a large variety of fish that will take a fly, a jig or a piece of squid. Little Cayman’s ecosystem is small but VERY dynamic! Most of our guests are content mixing some fishing in with their diving, or vice-versa, to make for a complete island adventure. And in world famous Tarpon Lake it truly is almost like shooting fish in a barrel
GHO CHILL
And finally, for the Robinson Crusoe in all of us, Little Cayman is a practically deserted tropical island, with stretches of powder white sand beaches punctuated by coconut palms. This adventure travelling is hard work! When you need to dial it down a notch and simply relax, just pick a spot on Little Cayman – the sand is soft and the breeze is just right for that afternoon nap in the shade! As we say at Outpost, Enjoy the Adventure no matter where it takes you!
Southern Cross Club, a Guy Harvey Outpost Expedition Resort. Since 1958, the Southern Cross Club has been serving up “Barefoot elegance” on over 900 feet of a powder white sand beach dotted with palm trees. Looking out onto South Hole Sound, the sapphire and turquoise blue waters mix at the reef line where diving adventures begin. Between the beach and the reef, incredible bonefish and permit fishing awaits outside your bungalow door.
When opened, Little Cayman was home to three locals. Fifty-plus years may have passed on a calendar, but time here on Little Cayman has really stood still.
