Bonfire Tournament
Lighting a fire under Guy Harvey fans, Guy Harvey Outpost auctioned off two days of fishing on Bouncerís Dusky to raise money for the Guy Harvey Oceans Foundation. Rick Benitez was the winning bidder for both Friday and Saturday's fishing trips. Neither Mr. Benitez nor his grandson, Victor Bermudez, had ever fished with Capt. Bouncer Smith before. The big fish story is Victor Bermudez age 6-1/2 fishing caught and released 54 fish of 12 different species to win the Top Angler award. All of the fish he caught were released.

Capt. Bouncer studied the rules to the team's strategic advantage giving them the Top Reef Team, Top Offshore Team and the Top Overall Team awards.

The White Pearl put three of their four anglers on the leader board with William Senne and Chad Conner taking second and third place angler awards and Danielle Keyser taking Third Place Lady Angler. Had the White Pearl team released a few more of their fish they would have been in closer contention.

Team Tiboron had a chance had they been able to hang on to the Blue Marlin they hooked into first thing in the morning. They fought her for a good while but she sounded. Eventually they broke her off. She would have provided a comfortable margin for victory.

Third Place Overall went to the Pisces, in large part based on the tying efforts of 1st and 2nd Place (on time) Lady Anglers Irynne Mackay and Margie McGough.

Burning Marlin
Here's a photo of the sun setting on Bobby Little Burning Marlin sculpture at Bimini Sands, a Guy Harvey Outpost Expedition Property. Little’s Burning Marlin Bonfire was a highlight of the three day event that announced Guy Harvey Outpost’s return to Bimini after two years of growth around Florida, the Bahamas and Beyond.

Bobby Little is primarily known for his recovered (not live) coral carvings. In recent years, he began welding steal and wire into burning sculptures for events in Rum Cay where he spends most of his time. It took Bobby about two weeks to construct this 30 foot, 500 lb Blue Marlin sculpture art, which was created in Rum Cay and then shipped to Bimini for the event.

Three barefoot skydivers from Island Extreme Adventures kicked off the evening by landing on the beach in front of the Bimini Sands’ Infinity Pool.  While not a recognized “art form” the three precision skydivers floating over aqua Bahamian waters created a special moment. The trio landed in quick succession and to applause from all those at the Captain’s Meeting and the Bonfire Event.

Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation
The Guy Harvey Outpost Bimini Beach Bash, Bonfire and Tournament benefited the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, whose missions is to help ensure that future generations can enjoy and benefit from a naturally balance marine ecosystem. The money raised through the auction will be reinvested in support of science and conservation in Bimini and its surrounding waters. The Oceans Foundation has been a longtime supporter of the Biological Field Station in Bimini and recently supplied mooring balls and ground tackle for many of the favorite dive sites off Bimini.
