Ray is a third generation Miami fisherman. Dad and Grand-Dad fished for fun; Ray is the consummate Professional. Experienced anglers talk about “Time on the water.” When your time on the water starts in diapers you have the other guy beat. Ray has over 30 billfish fishing tournament victories, yes, you read they correctly OVER 30 BILLFISH tournament wins plus other tournaments too.
Ray and Miss Britt Charters is based at the Monty’s (Bayshore Landings Marina) in Coconut Grove, the tree lined village just south of downtown Miami. You can walk to great restaurants and modern hotels right from the dock so there is no need to rent a car or to worry about parking.
Though based in Miami, custom charters are available in the Bahamas and the Florida Keys. All charters are tailored to your desires: sailfish, offshore & reef fishing are Miss Britt specialties. The team excels at nighttime trips for Tarpon and Swordfish as well. Capt. Ray is on the Pro-Staff of AFTCO, Penn Reels, Raymarine Electronics, Costa Del Mar Sunglasses and Mustad Hooks. Ray and his wife Charmain own and operate R & R Tackle.

Q: Your favorite fish to target?
A: Sailfish. They’ve provided us a lot of joy in the tournaments.
Q: Favorite place to eat in Miami?
A: The Captain’s Tavern. Great seafood and they let us bring our fish in and they cook it up.
Q: If you could fish anywhere in the world for any species, and money were no object, where would you fish and for what?
A: Back to Australia for black marlin. That place is special.
Q: When you’re not fishing, what’s your favorite activity?
A: Going to the woods for hunting, fishing and frogging just because of the tranquility.
Q: If you had only one lure and you had to catch a fish, what would it be?
A: If I were trying to survive, it would be a small bucktail. If I were trying to catch a marlin, it would be a Moyes Medium Plunger. It has the right action, it makes lots of smoke and it stays underwater.
Q: If you could take anyone in the world out on a fishing charter, who would it be?
A: My grandfather who has passed away and my dad because they taught me to love fishing.
