Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation
Founded in 2008, the Foundation is an organization of philanthropists, conservationists, scientists, and educators focused on developing sensible strategies for promoting the conservation of our oceans and nurturing the next generation of marine scientists and guardians of our seas.
It is a mission of the Foundation to ensure that future generations benefit from a naturally balanced marine ecosystem. Whether training future scientists or advocates for the oceans, the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation will fund education programs to help children and young adults understand their role in conserving our oceans.
Furthering the work of the Guy Harvey Research Institute and other research organizations, the foundation relies on its Scientific Advisory Board to vet proposed research projects seeking common sense solutions to reversing over fishing, pollution and other threats to the marine ecosystem.
Recent recipients of Foundation funding include the Mote Marine Laboratory, University of Florida, Florida Museum of Natural History, the Ocean Foundation, and the BImini Biological Field Station and Shark Lab.
The Foundation is supported by tax-deductible donations from individuals and corporations. With staffing and administrative support provided by Guy Harvey Inc., the Foundation has minimal operating costs, allowing an extraordinarily high percentage of contributions to fund its research and education initiatives.
