Grand Bahama offers a wide variety of international cuisines for all tastes. Conch (pronounced ‘konk’) is a quintessential Bahamian menu item, served in various forms, and found at just about every restaurant or conch stand on the island. Favorites include: conch salad, infused with citrus and served cold; cracked conch, tenderized and lightly batter-fried; and conch fritters, small balls of deep-fried batter mixed with minced conch and served with dipping sauce.

The local Bahamian cuisine consists mainly of seafood, poultry, or pork, typically fried, steamed, or curried, with various kinds of rice and salads. Spices are used in abundance.

Next to the hotel lobby and the marina is Dockside Restaurant. Stop in for local Bahamian cuisine from Chef Patrick Piere. If you are lucky he may be serving up his favorite receipe Seared Lionfish, served on a bed of sweet potato puree and topped with roasted corn and cilantro salsa and sitting in a bowl of bouillabaisse. Lucaya / Freeport


If you’re looking for a bit more cosmopolitan atmosphere, then you’re heading into the big city of Freeport and Port Lucaya!

Port Lucaya has a wide array of dining experiences for all budgets, at all times of the day. From the casual elegance of Luciano’s Italian restaurant overlooking the Port Lucaya Marina, to a host of fine dining or casual eateries at the Grand Lucayan Resort & Casino, you’ll have more options than opportunities!

Flying Fish, according to TripAdvisor, is the top dining establishment in Freeport, out of 98 options, considered “a gourmet dining experience with a flair for quality food and service.” Flying Fish is located in the Pelican Bay Hotel, overlooking Port Lucaya Marina.

Pier One Restaurant, outside of town near the cruise port, has a beautiful waterfront view and is best known for are its nightly shark feedings. Sharks are summoned to the water at 7, 8 and 9 PM with the ring of a bell, and guests can watch them chow down, and even throw food to them. If you’re not diving Tiger Beach while at Old Bahama Bay, this is the next best thing, and dinner isn’t bad either.
